How to charge the Meta Quest 3S?

To ensure uninterrupted VR sessions, it’s important to know how to properly charge your Meta Quest 3S. The process is simple but requires a few precautions to maintain long-term battery health.

1. Use the included cable and adapter

The Meta Quest 3S comes with an official USB-C cable and wall adapter. To charge the headset:

  1. Plug the USB-C cable into the port on the left side of the headset.
  2. Connect the other end to the adapter and plug it into a wall outlet.

Using a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) adapter of at least 18W is recommended for optimal charging.

2. Check the charging status

While charging:

  • An orange LED indicates the headset is charging.
  • A green LED means it is fully charged.

You can also check the battery level via the headset’s main menu or the Meta Quest mobile app.

3. Estimated charging time

The time for a full charge depends on the battery level and adapter used:

  • With the official adapter, it takes about 2.5 hours.
  • Lower-power third-party adapters may take longer.

4. Avoid using the headset during extended charging

It is technically possible to use the Meta Quest 3S while charging, but it is not recommended for long periods because:

  • Charging is significantly slower.
  • There may be mild overheating.
  • It puts more strain on the battery over time.

For extended sessions, consider using a head strap with a built-in battery or an external power bank.

5. Also recharge the controllers

The Meta Quest 3S controllers run on AA batteries:

  • You can use standard alkaline or rechargeable batteries.
  • Some third-party accessories offer magnetic charging stations for controllers with built-in batteries.

To charge the Meta Quest 3S, use the provided USB-C cable and power adapter, plugged into the headset’s side port. A full charge takes about two hours. While in-use charging is possible, it’s best avoided to preserve battery health. Controllers require batteries or a dedicated charging solution.
