How to recenter the display on the Meta Quest 3S?

It’s common for the display to become misaligned after head movement, a position change, or extended use. The Meta Quest 3S allows you to recenter the interface and apps in seconds to restore a natural alignment with your gaze.

1. Use the quick shortcut with the Oculus button

The easiest way to recenter the display is to use the Oculus button (located on the right controller):

1. Position your head in the desired direction (your intended “front”).
2. Hold the Oculus button down for 2 to 3 seconds.
3. The display will automatically recenter based on your new orientation.

This works in the main menu and in the majority of supported apps.

2. Recalibrate via system settings

If the shortcut doesn’t work properly, you can go through the settings:

1. Open the headset’s main menu.
2. Go to Settings > System > View alignment or Recenter (depending on language).
3. Click on “Recenter view”.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions while looking straight ahead.

This method ensures a more global realignment, especially after a pause or session reconnection.

3. Reposition the “play area” if needed

If the display issue is related to your physical space (new room, furniture moved), it’s useful to redefine your play area:

1. Go to Settings > Guardian.
2. Select “Redefine play area”.
3. Follow the steps to redraw your safe boundaries.

This helps fix alignment issues caused by incorrect environment recognition.

4. Restart the headset as a last resort

If manual and system-based recentering doesn’t help, restart the headset:

1. Hold the power button.
2. Select “Restart” from the menu.
3. Once rebooted, repeat step 1 to recenter the display.
