How to cast the screen with Vive Focus Vision?

Screencasting lets you stream the Vive Focus Vision display in real time to a computer. It’s ideal for demos, presentations, or remotely monitoring a user’s VR experience.

1. Check your PC’s compatibility with Miracast

The Vive Focus Vision uses Miracast technology to stream its display. Make sure your PC supports it:

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type cmd and click OK to open Command Prompt.
  • Enter the following command: netsh wlan show drivers
  • In the results, find the line Wireless Display Supported. If it says Yes, your PC is compatible.

2. Enable Miracast reception on your PC

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator (Ctrl + Shift + Enter).
  • Enter this command: DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:App.WirelessDisplay.Connect~~~~0.0.1.0
  • Once installation is complete, go to Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
  • Adjust the options to allow casting from other devices.

3. Start screencasting from the headset

  • Press the VIVE button on the right controller.
  • Select Cast, then choose your PC from the list.
  • Briefly remove the headset.

4. Approve the connection on your PC

  • Your PC will show a notification from the Windows Connect app.
  • Accept the connection request.
  • Click OK.

5. View the headset display on your PC

  • Put the headset back on: your VR display is now mirrored to the PC screen.
  • To stop casting, press the VIVE button again, select Cast, then choose Stop.
Screencasting with the Vive Focus Vision uses Miracast and requires no extra software. Once compatibility is confirmed and casting is enabled on your PC, it only takes a few simple steps to share your headset view in real time.
