How to enable developer mode on Meta Quest 3S?
Developer mode is required to install APK files, use tools like SideQuest, access USB debugging, or test development apps. You can activate it via the Meta Quest mobile app after registering a Meta developer account.
1. Create a Meta developer account
Before activating developer mode, you need a Meta developer account:
- Go to developers.meta.com/horizon.
- Log in with the same Meta account used on your headset.
- Create a developer organization (choose any name, no validation needed).
- Accept the terms of service to confirm your status.
This process is free and doesn’t require a subscription.
2. Open the Meta Quest app on your smartphone
- Download the Meta Quest app for iOS or Android.
- Log in with your Meta account.
- Turn on and connect your headset via Menu > Devices.
Your Meta Quest 3S must be recognized as active and online.
3. Enable developer mode
From the app:
- Go to Menu > Devices > Advanced Settings.
- Tap “Developer Mode”.
- Switch the toggle to ON.
The change is immediate, but it’s recommended to restart your headset for full effect.
4. Verify activation in the headset
After restarting, new options may appear or USB debugging may be allowed. You can now use tools like SideQuest, ADB, or install APKs manually.
