How to install an app on the Meta Quest 3S?
The Meta Quest 3S allows you to install apps directly from the integrated Meta Horizon Store or through alternative methods like sideloading for advanced users. Here’s how to download and install an app on the headset.
1. Connect the headset to the Internet
Before installing anything:
- Make sure your Meta Quest 3S is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- An Internet connection is required to access the store, download, and validate apps.
2. Access the Meta Horizon Store
From the headset:
- Press the Oculus button to open the universal menu.
- Select the Store icon in the bottom bar (or via the “Apps” tab).
- Browse through categories or use search to find an app.
You can also view your purchased apps or recommended content.
3. Download and install the app
Once you’ve selected an app:
- Click on “Free”, “Buy”, or “Install”, depending on the app.
- Confirm the purchase with your Meta account if needed (payment is linked to your account, not to the headset).
- The download starts automatically.
The app installs after the download is complete. Track progress via the “Downloads tab” or your Library app.
4. Launch the installed app
After installation:
- Open the headset’s “Library” menu.
- Find the app in the “Installed” section.
- Click to launch it.
New apps usually appear at the top of the list.
5. Install from the mobile app (optional)
You can also install an app remotely:
- Open the Meta Horizon app on your smartphone.
- Sign in with the same Meta account linked to your headset.
- Go to the store, choose an app, then tap “Install on headset”.
The installation starts remotely if the headset is powered on and online.
6. Use SideQuest for unofficial apps (advanced)
To install apps outside the official store:
- Enable Developer Mode in the Meta Quest mobile app.
- Connect your headset to a PC via USB-C.
- Use a tool like SideQuest to sideload APK files.
Please note: This method is for advanced users only and not covered by Meta’s warranty.
To install an app on the Meta Quest 3S, simply visit the Meta Horizon Store, select an app, and begin the download. You can also use the Meta mobile app or sideload APK files if Developer Mode is enabled.
