Does hand tracking on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise work with all VR apps?

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise features an advanced hand tracking system, allowing controller-free interaction in virtual environments. However, this technology is not compatible with all VR applications. Below is an overview of supported applications, limitations, and solutions for an optimal experience.

1. Application compatibility with hand tracking

Not all VR applications support hand tracking. Compatibility depends on developers and whether they have integrated this feature into their software. Currently, some popular applications, such as VRChat and Tempo Club, already support hand tracking, providing smooth and natural interaction.

However, other applications that require high precision or intensive controller usage do not yet support this technology. Therefore, it is essential to check the compatibility of each application before attempting to use hand tracking.

2. Hand tracking and VR streaming

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise supports hand tracking even during VR streaming, thanks to Pico Connect version 10.4.5. This update allows users to utilize hand tracking while streaming applications from a PC. However, this feature is limited to software that natively supports hand tracking.

3. Hand tracking limitations and constraints

While powerful, the hand tracking system on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise has some limitations:

  • Incompatibility with certain applications: Software requiring complex interactions, such as action games or 3D modeling tools, may not be suitable.
  • Lighting conditions: Insufficient or excessive lighting can affect tracking accuracy.
  • No haptic feedback: Unlike traditional controllers, hand tracking does not provide vibrations or force feedback, which may reduce immersion in certain professional or gaming applications.

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise offers advanced hand tracking, but its usability depends on application compatibility and optimal conditions. To maximize effectiveness, it is recommended to test the feature within each application and leverage Pico Connect streaming to expand its use cases.

While hand tracking represents a significant technological advancement, it does not yet fully replace traditional controllers, especially for applications requiring extreme precision.
