How to disable data sharing on the Meta Quest 3S?

The Meta Quest 3S collects certain usage, diagnostic, and performance data by default. If you want to enhance your privacy in VR, you can disable some or all data sharing directly from the headset settings or your Meta account.

1. Access privacy settings on the headset

To begin, turn on the headset, then:

1. Press the Meta button on the right controller to display the universal menu.
2. Select “Settings” (gear icon).
3. Go to Privacy and Security > Data and Statistics.

There you will find several options related to data collection.

2. Disable automatic diagnostic reports

In the relevant section:

1. Disable the option “Automatically send diagnostic data to Meta”.
2. This prevents the headset from sending info about bugs, crashes, and general technical use.

This option can be disabled without major impact on headset functionality.

3. Limit personalization and recommendations

Go to Settings > Privacy > Ad Preferences (or via your Meta account):

1. Turn off ad personalization.
2. Refuse the use of your interactions to personalize content recommendations.

Some options must be changed via a browser at https://www.meta.com/account or facebook.com/settings if your account is linked.

4. Manage app permissions

For each installed app:

1. Go to Settings > Apps.
2. Select an app and review its permissions (microphone, storage, location…).
3. Disable any that are unnecessary for its intended use.

This helps avoid unintentional sharing of personal data.

5. Delete data linked to your account if needed

From your web browser, you can:

• Download your VR activity data.
• Delete history or specific files linked to your Meta account.
• Close your Meta account (an extreme option that also ends access to related services).
