How to reset the controllers of the Meta Quest 3S?

Resetting the controllers of the Meta Quest 3S can be useful in case of malfunction, tracking loss, or connection issues. Here are the steps to fully reset the controllers.

1. Check the batteries first

Before resetting, make sure the controllers’ batteries are still charged. Low levels can cause signal loss or erratic behavior.

2. Unpair from the Meta Quest app

Open the Meta Quest mobile app on your smartphone:

  1. Go to the Devices” tab.
  2. Select your Meta Quest 3S.
  3. Tap Controller Settings”.
  4. Remove each controller by selecting Forget Device” or similar.

3. Restart the headset

Fully restart the Meta Quest 3S headset:

  1. Hold the power button until the menu appears.
  2. Select Restart”.

This helps reset internal Bluetooth connections.

4. Remove and reinsert the batteries

Open each controller’s battery compartment, remove the battery for about 10 seconds, then reinsert it. This helps force a clean reconnection on restart.

5. Re-pair the controllers

Once the headset has restarted:

  1. Return to the Meta Quest app.
  2. Go to the Device Settings”.
  3. Select Pair new controllers”.
  4. Follow the instructions to connect the left and right controllers.

6. Update if needed

If problems persist, ensure your headset and controllers are using the latest software version:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Software updates.
  2. Install any available updates.
