How to restart the Meta Quest 3S?

Restarting the Meta Quest 3S is a simple action that helps fix many common issues: slowdowns, visual glitches, disconnections, or freezes. A restart does not erase any data and can be done manually or via the system settings.

1. Restart using the headset buttons

The quickest method:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the right side of the headset for about 3 seconds.
  2. A menu appears with several options.
  3. Select Restart” using the controllers.

The headset will shut down briefly and then restart automatically.

2. Restart from the system settings

If the interface is responsive:

  1. Press the Meta button on the right controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Go to Settings > Power (or System, depending on the version).
  3. Select Restart Headset”.

This method avoids physical button handling.

3. Force a restart (frozen headset)

If the screen is frozen or black and the headset is unresponsive:

  1. Hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
  2. The headset will forcibly shut down and restart.

This is a recovery method for complete freezes.

4. What to do after restarting

Once the headset is back on:

  1. Wait a moment for the interface to load.
  2. Ensure the battery is charged sufficiently.
  3. If issues persist, consider a system update or freeing up storage.

The Meta Quest 3S can be restarted using the power button, via the system settings, or by a long press in case of a freeze. Restarting is safe and is a good first step to fix minor issues quickly.
