How to check the battery level of Meta Quest 3S controllers?

On the Meta Quest 3S, controllers use AA batteries and their charge level can be checked directly via the headset interface or the mobile app. Knowing where to look helps anticipate replacements and avoid interruptions during sessions.

1. Check the level in the headset

From the main interface of the Meta Quest 3S:

  1. Press the Meta button on the right controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Click on the bottom left to open the quick settings. Then, at the top left, you will see a battery icon for each controller.
  3. The indicators show the charge level of the controllers as a percentage.

Some firmware also displays a color (green, orange, red) to visualize the status more quickly.

2. Use the Meta Horizon mobile app

You can also check the battery level from your smartphone:

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app.
  2. Go to Menu > Devices.
  3. Select your Meta Quest 3S.

You’ll then see the battery level of both the headset and controllers.

3. Watch for system alerts

When battery level is low:

  • A notification appears in the headset to alert you.
  • A flashing red light may show on the controllers (depending on version).
  • Connection issues or latency may occur before the controller shuts off completely.

4. Replace or recharge the batteries

The Meta Quest 3S controllers use AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable):

  • Replace them as soon as the level gets low.
  • If using rechargeables, be sure to charge them with an external charger or use accessories with a built-in charging dock.

To check your Meta Quest 3S controller battery levels, use the headset interface or Meta Quest mobile app. Regular monitoring helps prevent interruptions and ensures a smooth VR experience.
