How to activate and calibrate eye tracking on Vive Focus Vision?

The Vive Focus Vision features an integrated eye tracker that follows eye movements to enhance immersion and interaction in virtual reality. This technology enables realistic eye contact for avatars and graphics performance optimization through foveated rendering.

1. Check if eye tracking is enabled

Before using it, make sure the feature is turned on:

  1. Open the headset settings menu.
  2. Go to Inputs > Eye Tracker.
  3. Ensure the “Eye Tracking” option is enabled.

2. Calibrating the eye tracker

To ensure optimal detection, it’s essential to calibrate the tracker:

  1. Go to Settings > Inputs > Eye Tracker.
  2. Select “Calibrate” next to “Calibrate Tracker”.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Test the calibration in a compatible app.

3. When should you recalibrate?

  • After adjusting the interpupillary distance (IPD).
  • When repositioning the headset.
  • If eye tracking appears inaccurate.

4. Updating eye tracking firmware

  1. Go to Settings > Inputs > Eye Tracker.
  2. Look for the “Firmware Version” option.
  3. If “Update” is available, select it to install the latest version.

5. Using eye tracking in applications

  • Supported in some VR/MR applications.
  • Enables realistic avatar eye contact.
  • Improves performance with foveated rendering.
