How to record your screen on Meta Quest 3S?

The Meta Quest 3S makes it easy to record what you see in the headset, whether it’s a gaming session, a demo, or navigating the interface. Screen recording starts directly from the headset’s universal menu.

1. Access the sharing menu

From the main headset interface:

  1. Press the Meta  button (right controller) to open the universal menu.
  2. Select the “Camera” or Share” icon (depending on your software version).
  3. A menu appears with several options: Take photo, Record video, Go live, etc.

2. Start the recording

To begin recording:

  1. Open the Camera” app.
  2. Click “Record video”.
  3. A 3-second countdown will appear before the recording begins.
  4. A discreet red icon (usually at the bottom right) shows that recording is active.

You can continue using the headset normally while recording.

Or

  1. Hold the Meta button + Trigger on your controller to start recording.
  2. To stop recording, hold the Meta button + Trigger again.

3. Stop the recording

To end the recording:

  1. Return to the Camera/Share menu.
  2. Click Stop recording”.
  3. A notification confirms the video has been saved.
  4. Recording also stops if you exit an app or turn off the headset.

4. Access your recorded videos

Recordings are stored locally in the headset:

  1. Open the Gallery” or Files” app from your library.
  2. Go to the “Captures” or “Videos” folder.
  3. You can view, delete, or transfer the videos from there.

To transfer videos to a PC:

  • Connect the headset to your computer via USB-C.
  • Allow file access on the headset.
  • Go to Meta > VideoShots folder in your PC’s file explorer.

5. Tips to improve quality

  • By default, recordings are made at 30 fps. To switch to 60 fps, enable developer mode and use a tool like SideQuest.
  • Close unused apps to avoid lag.
  • Recording drains battery: ensure you have at least 50% before starting.

To record your Meta Quest 3S screen, use the Share > Record video menu, then access your files via the Gallery app or a PC. It’s a simple built-in feature, perfect for capturing your VR moments, just keep an eye on battery and storage space.
