Can I use controllers other than those supplied with the Pico Neo 3 Enterprise/Pro (Eye)?

The Pico Neo 3 uses a tracking and communication system specific to official Pico controllers. Compatibility with third-party controllers is therefore very limited.

1. Native controller compatibility

The Pico Neo 3 is designed to work exclusively with the official Pico Neo 3 6DoF controllers.

These controllers are:

  • Natively recognized by the headset.
  • Fully integrated with the inside-out tracking system.
  • Essential for interacting with the interface and VR applications.

Controllers from other brands or other VR ecosystems are not recognized by the Pico system.

2. Use of third-party controllers

It is not possible to use:

  • Meta (Quest) controllers.
  • HTC Vive or Valve Index controllers.
  • Generic Bluetooth controllers.

The Pico Neo 3 does not allow pairing of third-party controllers for 6DoF tracking or VR interaction. Even if some devices can be detected via Bluetooth, they cannot be used as VR controllers.

3. Special cases in professional environments

In certain specific professional uses:

  • Interactions may be limited or automated via a dedicated application.
  • The headset can be used without controllers for passive viewing (videos, 360° photos, demonstrations).

However, this does not replace the use of alternative controllers and depends entirely on the application used.

The Pico Neo 3 does not allow the use of controllers other than the official Pico Neo 3 controllers. The system is closed to any compatibility with third-party VR controllers in order to ensure accurate, stable tracking that complies with the headset’s hardware specifications.
